Roland "Rollie" Marchetti
September 16, 2001

RollieSo soon after losing our 2 secretaries, we lost our dear friend and former ABATE of Monroe President, Roland Marchetti, a retired Rochester Police Department Sergeant-Major. He past away Sunday, September 16, at age 64. He has been suffering with cancer for several months and now his pain and suffering has ended. A group of ABATE members got to see him earlier that day. They stopped by the Hospice that he was in on the way to the Family Picnic. He was glad to see them. Our Chaplain Max was with him when he died. He will be missed very much. Rollie touched a lot of people in many different ways, and was quite the free spirit.

With all that has been going on in our world, we have to believe that he is in a much better place now, with no more pain.

Interment: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial contributions: American Cancer Society

Marilee "Missy" Mavity
September 30, 2001

2001 has been a most unfortunate year for Monroe County ABATE as we lost another friend and member in a motorcycle accident.

On a ride in the Southern Tier, Marilee "Missy" Mavity died when the motorcycle she was a passenger on the back of had a sudden rear tire blow out causing it to go down. Our hearts go out to her daughter Tammy, fiancee Colin Martin, also a member of ABATE, and her family and friends. She was a good friend, and had a great love of life and riding.

Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
